About the Pastor
Pastor Nathaniel E. Hampton is an ordained minister of the UPCI and currently serves as the District Superintendent of the Idaho District. He has been preaching since he was seventeen years old. Although a native of Arkansas, he attended Jackson College of Ministries in Mississippi. While preaching the gospel has been the focus of his life, he also has been in general construction for forty years.
As a pastor, he always takes people at face value and is very friendly and outgoing. Calvary Temple in Caldwell is his fourth pastorate along with his wife, Patricia, of thirty-nine years. They have three wonderful children and eight precious grandchildren.
Church History
Calvary Temple sits right in the heart of Caldwell, founded by Rev. Emmanuel Rohn and his wife in 1933. In 1945, fulfilling the dream that dwelt inside of him, they began constructing the building that we still worship in today. The building also served as the home for the Northwest Bible Training School, starting in 1946. Bro. Rohn served as pastor from 1933 until his passing in 1996. At this point in time, Rev. Frank Shackleford was elected as pastor, where he served in this position through August of 2013. Although his wife Velma, has passed from this life, he continues to faithfully attend Calvary Temple.
In August of 2013, Rev. and Mrs. Nathaniel Hampton moved to Caldwell from Oklahoma to assume the pastorate at Calvary Temple. Since that time, he and the congregation have remodeled and updated the sanctuary upstairs in 2015. In 2018, the balcony, kitchen, serving area, and bathrooms downstairs were also remodeled.
